Web Site SEO: How to Get Google Top Page Ranking

The most important web site SEO technique you can use to get top page ranking in Google is to get top-ranking web sites to link to you.
It's that simple. All other web site SEO techniques like keyword density and so on are secondary. What you want is to get the web sites that matter to link to you.
There are several factors to consider about the sites that link to you, so far as your ranking is concerned. These include:
- The ranking of that site
- The anchor text they use to link to your site
- The number of links to that site
- The rank of the sites that the site links to
To get top page ranking, check out which sites link to your competitor. You can do this in two ways:
- Google's "link:www.site.com" command (just type that in Google)
- Use good SEO software like SEO Elite.
Once you have a list of those sites, you must ask them to link to you. To do this, you can either send e-mail to them manually one by one (a chore since there could be thousands of them), or again, use software like SEO Elite.
When you ask web sites to link to you, make sure you link to them first. Then compliment them about their site. Then ask them to link back to you using title, URL and description that you specify. In the description (the anchor text), include the keywords you are targeting. This is important in web site SEO. This is how you get top page ranking for the keywords you want.
If you use SEO Elite, the program will automate the process for you. If you don't want to use web site SEO software, you will have to devote considerable time for a few weeks sending out links to individual web sites. Don't worry. Your hard work will pay off.
Don't neglect to use your keywords for the links you're requesting. If they link to you with the wrong anchor words, you'll get high page ranking for the WRONG keywords.
The only downside to this is these will be mostly reciprocal links. That's why it's still important to have quality web content. If you have quality web content, you can get good page ranking without much web site SEO, since the right sites will link to you anyway.
If you want to get one-way links instead of reciprocal ones, you can either:
- Rely solely on your web site's content to lure other sites to link to you.
- Write and submit articles to e-zine / article web sites.
For the second option, add a link back to your site in each article. This will get you higher ranking if the article site is a top-ranked site. But just make sure the web site targets the same audience as your site is aiming at. That way the people who visit your site from the e-zine site will be more likely to enjoy your site.
If you follow these steps, with or without using software like SEO Elite, it is guaranteed you will get top (or at least high) page ranking. Don't neglect other web site SEO techniques. But this is what counts most.
